8.5 x 8.5 inches | Oil Pastel on Canvas | Only one original

The painting is done in vibrant oil pastels (and sometimes vine charcoal, graphite etc) on canvas. It is signed and dated on the front as part of the painting process (the year of painting). It is then stabilized with a spray fixative. 

I think of each painting as a song or poem. They are reflections of my state of mind at the time. The entire process of painting happens in one sitting - whether it takes one hour or six, it must happen in a sitting (this is why I prefer the immediacy of oil pastels). As time passes since I started the painting, my feelings evolve. And so I add elements and take away elements. Some color here. A new shape there. Patterns and movements. What results is usually this aggregation of forms, boiling and seemingly growing out of each other. I am influenced by the work of abstract expressionist masters like Mark Rothko and Helen Frankenthaler, Indian masters like Ram Kumar and Rabin Mondal as well as the Art Brüt movement. However, being self taught, I paint in my own way.

I sit down to paint everyday and everyday I'm surprised by what I create. It fills me with joy. I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing.

Once your purchase is complete, I personally hand-inspect the artwork and prepare it for shipment. I cover the artwork with glassine paper, roll it and place it within a reinforced cardboard tube. The tube is marked with 'FRAGILE' tape. Throughout the process, every order is handled with utmost care.

There may be slight smudges on the back and sides of the canvas. And there maybe slight variations in the margin. It is unavoidable as this is a handmade painting.

Furthermore please note that the frame in the pictures above is just for illustration. It is not part of what you will receive.

As this is an Oil Pastel work it is recommended to frame it behind glass with a mat (as illustrated in the pictures). This will ensure a long life.
